During our tests, we found the iRobot S9+ cleaned thoroughly and efficiently a variety floor surfaces including hard and medium-pile carpets. It also performed well with tiles, vinyl, and laminate floors. It also did a good job of navigating around objects and furniture, although it struggled a bit with stairs, and can accidentally crash into things like bookcases.

The S9's capability to automatically return to its base and empty its dust bin when it's full was a great feature. It reduced the requirement for manual maintenance. Its dust bag is expected to last for about 30 loads, or around a month or two and you'll need to replace the filter every once in a while (which is actually recommended by iRobot). The iRobot S9+ is not very noisy when it operates making it a great option for families with children or pets.

Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

The best ones are controlled and monitored via apps for smartphones and some have mopping tech for kitchen and bathroom floors. They're a great solution for busy families, and are becoming more affordable than ever. If you want top-of-the-line features on your robotic cleaner, you're going to need to pay a little more.

The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid is an all-in-one mopping and vacuum machine making it a great choice for those in a flat with multiple floors. Eufy's app is more intuitive and precise than other robots that have similar scanning and mapping functions.

One of the best features on the X8 Hybrid is that you can control the vacuum or mop with your voice thanks to integration with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. This is a nice touch that makes the robot even more hands-free, and it is working well in our test house.

The X8 Hybrid, like many robotic vacuums, has a few issues with flooring that is not clean. It can miss pet hair and other small items, and it tends to hit things - such as its own charger at the charging base. It is also not as quiet, and the whirring noise can be distracting as with other models.

Roborock V3S Pro

The robot doesn't have as many features as some of the more expensive models we evaluated but it does come with the basics. It has a large enough dust bin that can hold plenty of dirt before it's empty, and its vacuum and mop system is great for carpets with low pile and hard floors. It's also super quiet and we could watch TV while it was cleaning without feeling like it was blasting us with the sound.

Our testers loved how easy it was to install and use, and were impressed by its capacity to take all the mess off their flooring. It even did a pretty good job at removing pet hair and messes from carpeting, although it wasn't as successful in tackling stubborn stuck-on staining. The users found the app to be user-friendly and easy to use, and could schedule the vacuum to clean on a regular basis to help reduce how much they needed to do manually. The only drawback is that it does not have any mapping technology or object avoidance technology, so you can't send it to specific rooms or follow virtual boundaries (though magnetic boundary strips work).

The V3S Pro did not make it into our top choices lists from trusted sources who perform hands-on tests, but it received high marks from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. The V3S Pro was easy to use and set up, but the battery life was short.
